Work towards advancing gender equality recognised
Our commitment to gender equality was acknowledged when we achieved the Athena SWAN Bronze Award in April. Athena SWAN is Advance HE’s Gender Charter, and acknowledges the actions undertaken by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with relation to gender equality issues.
Our approach to ensuring education for all
Our Student Recruitment Team was named winners of the Higher Education Liaison Officers’ Association (HELOA) Student Recruitment and Outreach Award in recognition of an innovative HE visit day organised for prospective students with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
Reconfirming our approach to quality HR
The support that the University of South Wales offers researchers has once again been recognised by the European Commission’s HR Excellence in Research Award.
LGBT equality efforts recognised
Our commitment to LGBT equality was rewarded as we started the year being ranked 24th in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2020
Cyber plaudits
In September, the University was named Cyber University of the Year at the National Cyber Awards for the 2nd year running. The awards reward those who are committed to cyber innovation, cyber crime reduction and protecting citizens online.
Ranking success
USW had ranking table success in both the Times Good University Guide and Guardian League Table as the University climbed 24 and 32 places, respectively. Could these simply be hyperlinks in the individual named league table refs within the sentence?
National recognition for our enterprise education
A project led by USW, which saw all 23 universities and colleges in Wales work together during lockdown, has received the Entrepreneurship Catalyst Award. An award category in the wider National Enterprise Educator Awards, this accolade was in recognition of innovative and exceptional practice shown by Welsh Enterprise Champions in delivery of ‘Summer Start-up Week’.
Games excellence
USW has recently been named amongst the world’s top 20 education institutions for 3D Animation and Games Design & Development. Being a Rookies Certified School identifies USW as one of the world’s best for preparing students for a career in the creative industries.
